Another week, another blogpost! For this week, I decided to do something a little different, but hopefully helpful for those busy days!
I thought it’d be cool to write about how to transform an outfit from day to night! We all know that casual attire is more suited for the day time, and we tend to wear darker colours or dress up a bit for evening events. Hence, I wanted to take one basic outfit and show you how you can change it to work for both day and night!
So, my BIGGEST Style Tip for this is – it all depends on the ACCESSORIES!
It is ALL about the accessories! All you need is your core items and you can manipulate your accessories to make your outfit appropriate for any time of day.
I hope you are all doing well! Hope you enjoyed your long weekend and Family Day (if Canadian) or President’s Day (if American), or regular old Monday (if from anywhere else LOL)!
Sorry my post is late, but had a fun family dinner last night so didn’t get around to posting!
But, HAPPY FAMILY DAY to you all! Thank you all for being my HH family and the best supporters ever 💕💕
Now I know in the Winter, it can be really tough to wear a cute outfit when all you can think about is not freezing in the -20 ºC weather (may fluctuate with windchill 😪). Or you may have a nice outfit, but it’s buried under your huge winter jacket and cannot be appreciated. Then, we end up being lazy with our style and just live in a hoodie and sweatpants (am I right) 🙋
Often in my regular blogposts, I incorporate Style Tips, which are a general rule of thumb that can be applied to everyday dressing. Hence, I thought I’d make a blogpost just for Style Tips I follow in the winter season! This blogpost idea was suggested by my girl Zahra Maryam, so thank you once again!
Like I’ve mentioned before, if you have any blogpost ideas you’d like to see on HH, please shoot me a message or leave me a comment and I will definitely try to make a blogpost about it inshallah!
This collaboration has been a long time coming and I’m finally glad its here!
As you probably already know by now, considering she’s been in a couple of my blogposts, Azra from AZ Photography and Design is a really close friend of mine! She’s one of my best frans.
We have been talking about collabing for a while and we finally had a chance to pick a time that worked for our busy schedules for a fun winter photoshoot!
Kulsoom, aka What’s Your Motive, joined in as well, of course. She helped out with a very special part 😁
We shot in a park and near the Living Arts centre. It was freezing cold that day, but Azra was an absolute trooper! Not only was she willing to shoot in any location of my choice, she was also so understanding and never complained about the weather conditions or anything! Her flexible nature was definitely appreciated, because we all know HH is quite particular! 😉
She was well prepared for shooting in both locations and knew what poses would work well. Everything was so perfect and every photo came out stunning!
She definitely knows what she is doing and has shot a variety of events in different settings. From weddings, portrait sessions, family shoots, or indoor, outdoor, snow, sunshine, you name it, Azra can capture it! And do a phenomenal job at it! I would highly recommend her for any occasion!
How fast a week has just flown by! It feels like just yesterday I was sitting here writing a blogpost! But to be honest, I think I just wait all week for my Sunday night blogpost time so I can sit and write 😁
It is finally time for #HijabiHeroes – WINTER edition!
I just wanted to thank you all for such positive feedback on the #HijabiHeroes – FALL post, and for your support in general! Everyone loved it so much and so many people wanted to be featured it the upcoming posts! You’ll see some familiar faces, but most of the lovely #HijabiHeroes featured are new to HH. Of course, if you’d like to be featured in a #HijabiHeroes post, please DO NOT HESITATE to ask me! I’m really nice, I promise 😁 Seriously, I’d love to have you all on HH! ☺️💕
Once again, thank you to all the beauties in this post for supporting me! Every person featured in this post has a special reason they are here and they have all contributed to HH in one way or another – whether it’s taking my pictures, talking to me about HH, speaking kind words about HH, commenting on my Instagram pictures (you know its real when 😉), and even trusting me for advice on fashion. I am truly grateful for everything!
Alright, enough of the sappiness! Here is #HijabiHeroes, winter edition!
For those of you who had exams, I hope they went well inshallah!
I just finished my last and biggest exam yesterday! It was a practical exam for Nursing and we had to perform many different assessments on standardized patients. The most stressful part is that you have no idea what you’ll have to do until you enter the patient’s room!
Anyways, now that exams are over alhamdulilah and my first school year in university has come to an end, I thought I would pay tribute to my beautiful school, McMaster University.
Back in March, one of my best friends came to visit McMaster University as she had a day off. Of course, as she’s a photographer, we had to snap some shots 🙂
We tried to take pictures in front of some beautiful architecture and historic charm that makes McMaster the homey and warm campus it is. Unfortunately, it was still snowing back then, and seems to be close to it now (sad Canadian life), so we didn’t get as many shots. I hope you can still see some parts of McMaster!
McMaster, it’s been real. My first year in university has taught me a lot. Besides the two semesters of Health Science Anatomy and the many nursing skills I now possess, I learned a lot about myself. I learned to be more giving, more genuine, and more independent. I learned about my biases and my judgements and faced situations that were new, different, and sometimes made me uncomfortable. But at the end of it all, I learned to be me.
Inshallah, looking forward to the rest of my university career at McMaster!
For my outfit, since it was still colder then, I chose to wear my fur vest. Not that I really have to have an excuse to wear it, but still 😉
I paired it with a long sleeves crop top and simple black skirt. To add some colour to the monochrome outfit, I wore a navy floral hijab.
Hope you like it!

It’s been so long since I’ve posted just an outfit of the day (ootd)! I really liked how the sweater-hijab combination turned out so I definitely had to share!
I recently purchased this blue sweater from Forever 21! It’s super cute and has a really nice braided detail in the back that adds a little bit of dimension and surprise to the outfit. I wanted to wear a hijab that added some contrast to add some life to the outfit and for another cold day!
Yesterday night, I was trying to find a hijab to wear for this outfit and half of my hijab collection just fell out of my closet! It was pretty messy but I guess it was a blessing in disguise because I found this mustard, orange, and blue cheetah print hijab! I actually bought this hijab for Fatema from StyleByFJ and I so we could be matching!
Check out how she styled this hijab in the summer and her other amazing outfits -http://stylebyfj.blogspot.com!
I wore my trusty black pants from H&M – I literally have 3 pairs of the same pants because they’re my absolute favourite!
I finished the look with some simple black boots and a nude clutch!
(A special thanks goes to my awesome friends who helped me take these pictures!)
