Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far!

I tried something new  yesterday and loved it!! As soon as I saw this blazer in Marshalls I automatically gravitated towards it. I love the two toned black and white because one, the black on the side is very flattering  and two,  it falls right into all the new trends seen of the red carpet of dichromatic right now. I chose the subtle lace top from Old Navy under because it adds detail without stealing the whole show away. Wearing a solid pink scarf is probably my personal favorite part. I usually wear a matching scarf with my outfits but this time I used it more as an accessory piece. The ballet flats from Aldo also incorporate the pink and patent leather black and pull the whole thing together.

I found this picture to show how easy it is to incorporate the black and white trend into any hijabis wardrobe. Even small accessories look so classy and fun. Keeping up with trends like these is simple because most of us are already pros at layering so the only difference is using different sets of  colors! Never be afraid if you see trends you love on the runways to follow them in your daily outfits.

Healthy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

If you are a fellow foodie like me, you are gonna love this recipe for easy and clean oatmeal raisin cookies. I found this recipe on my favorite pass time, Pinterest, and modified it a little to make my own and a little healthier. The ingredients you will need are:

  • 3/4 canola oil
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 baking splenda
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Mix everything together until smooth then add:

  • 1   1/4 whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 cups dry oatmeal
  • At least 1 cup of raisins

Mix all the ingredients. Place on a baking sheet and bake at 350 for about 9-12 minutes.

*** Boil the raisins in the 1/4 cup of water used above for a few minutes until soft then drain and add the water to the first mix and set aside the raisins for later***

That’s it!! You can always replace raisins with dark chocolate chips and add unsweetened cocoa powder  to make chocolate oatmeal cookies or add some crushed pecans or almonds to the mix . If you tried these or have any other special cookie recipes that you love, let us know in the comments below!! 🙂

DIY Face Mask!

Hola Chicas!

I hope everyone is having a good weekend so far!

Speaking for myself, some days my skin just needs a little uplifting! Here’s a super duper easy face mask to make at home with ingredients EVERYONE has! (no lie though)
This face mask really helps to exfoliate your skin, clear out your pores, and get rid of blackheads!
After, your skin will glow, feel fresh and soft, and overall, leave you with a nice minty fresh look!

There are only 2 ingredients needed for this! I wasn’t lying when I said it was going to be simple 🙂
All you need is Toothpaste and Salt!
Grab a bowl, and put 2 parts salt to 1 part toothpaste. I used about 4 teaspoons of salt and 2 teaspoons of toothpaste. This made enough for both my mom and I to use this mask.

Just mix in these two with a spoon and fold the salt into the toothpaste. I promise it will all come together! Once mixed, add about a teaspoon of water and you’re good to go!

One important thing before you apply the mask on your face! Wet a facecloth with HOT water and place it on your face. This is crucial as it will open up your pores and allow the mask to work its magic.

Apply the mask evenly on your face. Avoid the eye area!! Salt burns open wounds so you wouldn’t want to get this near your eyes, not even lids or anything!

Leave it on for five minutes and wash your face with lukewarm water. Maximum use is once a week as the mask can be harsh on the skin at times. At the end, your face may look a little red – not to worry, the redness will fade in a couple minutes! Make sure to moisturize when you’re done to prevent any dryness and keep your skin healthy!

Super easy, quick, and inexpensive! Most importantly, remember to embrace your natural beauty and feel comfortable in your own skin! <3

OOTD: Sequined Maroon

Hey lovelies!

Here is a little formal OOTD for the winter season!

Even though it’s freezing outside, maxis are still my favorite  choice for any special event! Personally, I’ve always thought maxi skirts and dresses are the most flattering and elegant pieces of clothing. The best part about the maxi is how versatile they are. You can easily dress it up or down by just choosing  the right “over the top to make my outfit halal” piece of clothing like a cardigan or blazer. For this look,  I went with the blazer over a sequined top to add pop. Maroon is my favorite color especially for those cold months, so this skirt is a go to for this season .

P.S.  So I don’t blind on coming traffic with my shirt, I tucked it in to tone it down 😉

If you ever have a clothing item your unsure about, pair it with something your most comfortable and confident, like your favorite pair of jeans, or in this case favorite skirt.  Confidence is key! Most importantly, be happy and comfortable in your own skin 🙂

OOTD: Maxing out the Maxi Skirt!

Hey cuties!

Here’s a quick OOTD post, well throwback OOTD!

One of my best friends is an aspiring photographer so being the great friend I am, I thought I would help her out by being a model for a test shoot! So caring I know, because who wouldn’t love a photoshoot LOL 😉 I tried on a couple of outfits in different locations but this outfit has got to be my favourite from the shoot!
I love love love maxi skirts because they are so versatile, stylish, and of course hijabi-friendly! I tucked in one of my button down shirts and added a pop of colour with the red blazer! The red blazer was a random buy but I think it works well on the skirt! I added a matching hijab to bring in the red and the gray, added a simple necklace, and viola! I styled this outfit after recently purchasing my first maxi skirt about a year ago. I didn’t really know how to style it but I just played around with a couple of things and I really like the final look! So there’s style tip for you all – new article of clothing you don’t know how to wear? Play dress up and see what works and what doesn’t! You may end up finding an outfit that you really love!

Maxing out the Maxi Skirt!

This look is perfect for school, work, or just adding a little formal spin on a causal flowy skirt! Super comfortable and super cute, and not to mention is really easy too!
