Workout OOTD + Update of Grains & Gains

Hello there!

Hope you are all doing well!
Sorry for not uploading yesterday! I had a presentation this morning at 8:30 AM that was worth 20% of my grade, so decided to brush up for that 😅
I’m currently in the library writing this during my class break, so you know I survived HAHA!

I wanted to share an update on my personal fitness and my trainer, Aishah, from Grains and Gains (if you don’t know what I’m talking about, go to Part 1)! But before, that I want to share one of my favourite workout outfits with you all. Hopefully, it may inspire you as well!

Back to School Outfit Ideas FT. Neer Couture

Hello Hello!

Long Time 🙈🙈🙈

I’m not even going to try to defend myself this time – Sorry I’ve been away! I went to Florida for my brother’s engagement, and then we took a road trip around the East Coast! We just came back last weekend and I started school on Tuesday, so got busy with uni.
BUT, the good news is that I vlogged my entire trip, so you can watch all the vlogs on my YouTube channel! And if I’m ever away from blogging for a while, I’m probably still active on Instagram (lol whoops!) so follow me on Instagram – @hijabiheroes!

Speaking of school, I’m back in uni for my 3rd year! Throwback to the times when our first week was just orientations and syllabus reviews, because I already have so many readings and even a presentation in a couple days! 😅
This week, the energy level was still a bit high, but considering all of my classes start between 8:30-9:30, not to mention my clinicals that start at 6:45, I know my permanent state of ‘being tired’ is going to start any time now LOL. With low energy, having good outfits will be overthrown by the general dislike towards school. So don’t worry, I got y’all!

I wanted to share some back-to-school outfits with you all, but, I wanted to make something a bit more practical and realistic. Hence, I created 2 outfit combinations, that I honestly use ALL THE TIME, and then show them in action! This is essentially a guide – so you can just swap out the individual components, but the structure stays the same.

Both hijabs in my outfits are from Neer Couture! I really love their quality and collection! They’ve got loads of ombré hijabs, in printed and solid varieties! You know how I’m a sucker for a cute ombré hijab! They’re so good for adding colour to a neutral outfit and really go well with anything. That’s why they’re so great and easy for back to school!
I also got a soft cotton hijab from them. Forget that it’s the prettiest shade of purple (purple is my fav colour too 🙋🏽), but it’s also one of the softest hijabs I own! And it doesn’t slip or move around so it’s also great for those long classes!
Don’t forget to check out their collection on Facebook and Instagram!

IMFDF 2016 Experience!

Hey lovelies!

I hope you are all doing well!
So I just realized I forgot to do a 2nd blogpost last week! WHOOPS! Sorry everyone! Things are just super busy as IMFDF was this past weekend, this week is a double wedding for us (two family friends, one is ShumiDee!), and then next week, I’m off to Orlando, FL! Lots and lots going on! Alhamdulilah, busy is good but I may be behind on blogposts 🙈

Like I said, IMFDF was this past weekend!! The International Modest Fashion and Design Festival (IMFDF) is a super cool event hosted annually and sponsored by the halal cosmetics company, Tuesday in Love! As always, the 2-day event features a Yacht party and a Fashion Show with a bazaar!

Of course, I had to share my experience with you all! First of all, it was so nice meeting so many of you! It’s always nice to connect faces to ‘likes’ hehe, and I’m so so SO appreciative that we got to talk and chill together! I had an amazing time!
Also, HUGE Shoutout to Taam Media for collaborating with me and sending me to IMFDF!

#HijabiHeroes – Summer Edition! ☀️🌴

Hey everyone!

I hope you are all doing well! I can’t believe summer is coming to an end and people are starting school soon! I don’t start until the beginning of September but it still feels like school is starting tomorrow 😫
What better time to lift our spirits then a #HijabiHeroes post, Summer edition 😎

Once again, thank you to all of the ladies that approached me to be a part of this, as well as the ones who agreed to participate upon asking. It really means a lot that so many people believe in the HH mission and want to see it succeed and flourish. I also appreciate them taking time out to snap an OOTD, it’s not easy, and I hope y’all see my daily struggles LOL.

If you would like to be featured in the next #HijabiHeroes post (I’m thinking Fall already mhmm), then please don’t hesitate to shoot me a message! You can just let me know that you’d like to be involved and I’ll remind you before it’s time for the post so you can send me the outfit picture, so don’t worry about that!

Okay, without further ado, #HijabiHeroes, Summer edition 💕

OOTD – #SariNotSorry

Hey there!

I hope you are all doing well! Totally forgot to publish this blogpost, and hence there were no blogposts last week 😁 I KNOW I’M A FAIL, PLEASE FORGIVE ME. 😅🙈

Two weekends ago was my friend, Sakina’s wedding and I was one of her bridesmaids! Everything went really well and Sakina really pays attention to detail, which is definitely appreciated!

Being a bridesmaid, we were all #Twinsies. She picked a beautiful sari for us all and I was really excited to wear one! I’ve worn a sari before at school for CultureFest, but that doesn’t really count 😝
So this is my first real time wearing a sari, and it was quite something!

The sari was a gorgeous dark blue and light blue with golden lace panels! I got a long sleeve long blouse stitched so I’m #HH all the time hehe! For the pictures, we were all asked to wear dark blue hijabs to match the saris so that was easy.

OOTD – Abaya Season 💁🏽

Salaam everyone!

I hope you are all doing well and the fasts are also going beautifully 🙂
Sorry for not posting twice last week, I haven’t been feeling too well, so haven’t been on my game. But inshallah, I can get back to it!

Now with Ramadhan amongst us, many have labelled this month as #AbayaSeason. Abayas are all the rage, and you know what, I can’t blame anyone for sporting them more often this month. First of all, they are super modest, like the epitome of modest garb. They are also really comfortable, because you could honestly be wearing your PJ’s underneath, and no one would know! And if you are wearing a front opening abaya, then you can just wear a flowy skirt or comfy pants and be happy. All in all, this is #AbayaSeason, and I’m embracing it! 😝
Jokes aside, abayas are actually a great option and inshallah I hope to integrate them more into my wardrobe! I have been wearing abayas more lately, especially the front opening ones. Since they have a kimono-like style, they are great to wear with palazzo pants, skirts, or even jeans! I wore my Dara Boutique one to Halal Food Fest and my friend Shumaila’s bridal shower! I’ve even posted some abaya inspiration outfit pictures on my Instagram recently! You know I like to start the trends before they go mainstream 💁🏽😂

Where’d You Get That?!? Hijabs!

Hello Hello!

I hope you are all doing well! I can’t believe it’s already been over a week since the blessed month of Ramadhan has started! I hope everyone’s in their routine and is at ease with the long summer fasts, and I also pray that our fasts and efforts are accepted inshallah!

So I’m starting a new series on HH, surprise surprise 😅 A friend of mine, Siddiqah, asked me to do a whole post on where I get my hijabs. She was thinking online stores, but I thought I’d extend it to places in the GTA in case my fellow Torontonians wanted to just pick them up instead of ordering online. I actually get this question a lot, it’s one of the most commonly asked.  I also frequently get asked where I get my skirts and maxi dresses from, so I thought, why not make a whole series on it!

Summer Trends 2016 FT. Verona Collection

Hello there!

I hope you are all doing well! I’m back again with another blogpost! It feels really good to sit and write more often now, alhamdulilah!

I was scrolling through Instagram and noticed a lot of trends are popping up EVERYWHERE for the Summer time! There are various fashion styles and items that are really popular nowadays. Now you know I don’t like to go too mainstream, but I wanted to share my take on 4 Summer trends and ideas on how to incorporate them into your outfits! I definitely do not think we should try to just wear the trends and ‘blend in’ with the conventional and current style, but I do promote trying new things and seeing how they work with your own look!
Also, just because something is a trend, doesn’t mean you have to wear it the way ‘everyone’ does or the way it’s ‘supposed’ to be worn. Recreate your own spin on things and let your personality shine through!

The trends I want to share are 1) White on White, 2) Mini Backpacks, 3) Maxi on Maxi, and 4) Baseball hats. I think these 4 trends are my favourite for the summer and also super easy to implement and incorporate into an outfit. I have 2 outfits, displaying 2 trends each! This shows the versatility of the trends and how you can mix and match and wear them together! You do not need to have one statement outfit with a ‘trend’, just work it with your own preferences.

OOTD – Shumaila’s Bridal Shower! 💗

Hi hi!

I hope you are all doing well!

This past weekend has been a busy one! Among the many things going on, it was my good friend Shumaila’s bridal shower! Shumaila, better known as @shumidee from Instagram and Youtube, is getting married in August inshallah and her amazing bridesmaids and family threw her an awesome bridal shower on Sunday! You’ve seen her in my many #HijabiHeroes blogposts, so of course, I had to write a blogpost about her bridal shower! And you bet you’ll get a whole wedding week post when August rolls around 😅

Everyone was requested to wear black semi formal attire and the theme was black with pink and floral accents. Of course, Miss Shumaila wore all white, just like a bride! Her bridesmaids did an amazing job with the decorations, with a black wall and beautiful flowers, and there was also a sequins wall for a photobooth accompanied with some funny props. There was perfect seating and a gorgeous cake and desserts table! From the door to the decor (haha, bars), everything was so well thought out! There was decorations at the front door and pictures of Shumaila and her fiancé all over the walls, and even hanging from the ceiling!

HOW TO STYLE: Dainty Jewelry! FT. Azha Workshop

Hey Hey!

I’m really loving this whole 2 blogposts a week! I thought it would be a little much but with some planning and time management, it’s actually really fun! It feels so good to be able to write to you all so often so inshallah this momentum continues!

Today I have a post on how to style dainty jewelry! Personally, with hijab, I feel like it’s hard to wear dainty or delicate jewelry because it really doesn’t show that much. Maybe it’s just me, but I find it a lot easier to just throw on a statement necklace and be done with the accessorizing, only because I know it’ll actually show. So I thought it’d be cool to write about how to style simpler or more subtle pieces.

There are two main Style Tips when working with dainty jewelry:
1) Keep the outfit simple!
I know the jewelry is understated, but a simple outfit actually works better in this situation! Having a rather easy colour palette or even just simple pieces will really help the jewelry shine through and become more of the focus. Too many colours or a big print may easily distract the attention away from the jewelry.
2) Layer up!
With smaller pieces of jewelry, you can totally get away with stacking! Wearing a couple of rings, a small chain necklace, and earrings is not overpowering and the pieces actually compliment each other!
