HOW TO STYLE: Neck Scarves

Hello Everyone!

I hope you’re doing well and are having a great week so far!

Recently (and by recent I really mean the middle of March whoops) I have been trying to reorganize the way I store my hijabs. To no avail of course lol, but I did realize that I have a lot of hijabs! Yes, mind-blowing, I know! But I really like all of the ones I have! The only problem is, I never get to wear them all. I either forget that I own a particular hijab or I wear a couple of my favourites over and over again aha! Hence, I’ve been trying to find a way to wear my many hijabs, but not necessarily on my head 😛

I decided that a great solution for this would be to incorporate scarves in my outfits but as accessories! I know, I keep blowing you away with these crazy and unknown facts! Anyways, I thought I would share some of ways I wear hijabs as scarves! It’s actually a great way to incorporate textures and prints into your outfits but in a more casual way as opposed to jewelry. Also, it’s nice to change it up sometimes 🙂

You can totally transform a more plain or typical outfit by adding a nice scarf around your neck! Also, depending on how you style your scarf, you can create a casual, more formal, and an in-between look! Therefore, I want to share these three styles with you all!

Style 1: Casual

This was actually me when I put together this outfit: z_z. This can translate into “Too tired for life” LOL
But really! I love my plaid shirts, don’t get me wrong, I mean I even wrote a whole HOW TO STYLE post about them 😉 But, this day I felt like taking my plaid shirt to the next level haha! Of course I was way too tired for this so I came up with draping my scarf around my neck like a nice blanket! Very convenient I know 😉

This pretty sky blue hijab is from Dara Boutique!

So comfortable and effortless!

Style 2: Formal

Now this look really isn’t that formal, but it’s definitely more put together! I simply threw my scarf over my shoulder as if I was a fashion critique from Devil Wears Prada! LOL just kidding! It’s quite self-explanatory but I just draped one end of the scarf around my neck and loosely crossed the other end of the scarf on my other shoulder. I like this look because it gives the outfit a more classy feel!

I also left some room so my necklace would show 😉

Style 3: In-Between

This last style is a nice sophisticated mix between a casual and more formal look. I love the versatility of this scarf style and how it can work to spice up a casual outfit or tone down a more classy outfit! I’ve worn this style for years now and I love how each scarf makes this style look different every time!

All you have to do is drape the scarf around your neck with the two ends at equal lengths. Then you just simply tie a knot at each end and there you go! I used this style to liven up my classic maxi skirt outfit!

And that’s a wrap!  I hope you like these three simple and effortless styles and I hope these are useful in helping you wear your scarves in a different way!

~Where Style and Modesty Save the Day!~

Hello Beautiful people of the Internet!

I hope you’re doing well!

I’m very excited about this post! It’s another post in my “HOW TO STYLE” series and these posts are one of my favourites to plan out and write because I love finding new ways to wear my clothes!

Let’s talk plaid! Plaid is a major trend right now, but to be honest, I feel like it’s always in-style during the Fall and Winter months. Currently, the fashion world is going crazy over plaid! There’s plaid shirts, scarves, skirts, headbands, and probably a lot more! You name an article of clothing and I’m sure there’s a plaid version out there 😛

(By the way, I took all these pictures last weekend and I was totally ready to write the post and everything, but I got super sick on Monday and I was on-off sick this whole week 🙁 Thankfully, my family and friends were very helpful in making me feel better! It’s really funny actually, how I’m the nurse-in-training but they were all taking care of me 😛 )

So, as HijabiHeroes always has you covered, I just haaad to show you some different ways to style the classic plaid shirt!

(Side Note: Most of these outfits feature the plain glittery maxi hijabs from Dara Boutique’s new Fall Hijab Collection, you have to check it out!

STYLE 1: Layer it up
Sweaters and Plaid!

I’ve always loved the layered look of pairing shorter sweaters and shirts over blouses because it’s very classy and has a nice effortless look. Personally, I recently started wearing this look myself and I actually love the way it looks. It’s a super easy outfit and can work for casual or more formal looks!

But can I just say, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS OUTFIT! That’s why I had to list it first :$
I was a bit nervous as how it would turn out, because like I said, I’ve only recently started wearing this style, but the outfit turned out fabulous in my opinion 😉

The Plaid Shirt featured in this outfit is from Old Navy. I love the classic Red and Blue pattern and it’s the “Boyfriend Fit” (Astaghfirullah LOL) so it’s longer and looser – perfect for modest dressing!

STYLE 2: Casual meets Classy – Maxi Skirt and Plaid

Alright, you definitely should have expected this one! I’m surprised I made it this far without mentioning the words “maxi” and “skirt” together!!

I actually really enjoy how the casual plaid shirt and the classy, more formal maxi skirt complement each other in this outfit. Maxi skirts are an easy and modest choice and pretty much go well with everything!

The classic HH pose :’)

STYLE 3: Take me out to the Ball Game! – Waist Tied Plaid

This style may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I actually quite like it! This look is super casual and sporty almost, hence the name!

With this look, you have to be very careful to ensure modesty, although tying the plaid shirt at your waist does give you a longer hem at the back. It’s a little tricky, but you can definitely get around it!

I really like the way this turned out!
Love how the stripes on the sleeves match the plaid shirt too 🙂

Hijab: Ardene, Long Sleeve Shirt: PINK, Plaid Shirt: H&M, Jeans: Joe Fresh, Shoes: Target

STYLE 4: Plain Jane – Plaid Shirt

Last but not least, it’s always just fun to wear your shirt how it is! Grab your favourite hijab and some fun accessories and go rock your plaid shirt 🙂

I love how this plaid shirt from H&M is Black and White, because you can easily wear this all year round and pair it various plain hijabs to change up the look! I’m wearing my Hunter Green hijab from Dara Boutique’s new Fall hijab collection. Hunter Green is another big colour this Fall/Winter so I thought I would feature it in this look!

(BTW, sorry these pictures are out of focus, I took them myself with a self-timer and didn’t realize until I uploaded the pictures on to my computer 🙁 )

Love the watch-ring combo 🙂

If you’re wondering what the random rose gold button-looking thing is that’s on my hijab, it’s actually a magnetic hijab pin! I got it from Kashkha ( and their beautiful rep Zaheera from HijabiTrends 101 ( sold it to me! This beautiful rose gold pin is only $5!

Hope you liked these outfits!

I took most of these pictures myself and set up my living room for my photo shoot! Some of these pictures were taken by my lovely mother, so thank you MommaHero for the help <3 <3

HOW TO STYLE: Maxi Skirts

Hello Cuties!

Belated Ramadhan Kareem! We hope and pray that you have an amazing month of Mahe Ramadhan filled with spirituality, blessings, happiness, and unity! <3

We are so sorry we are late on this post – We wanted to post it before Mahe Ramadhan started so that we could give you all some outfit ideas for the Mosque, Iftar Parties, and everything in between!
Hopefully this post will still be super helpful!

We narrowed down our Top 4 Ways to Style our glorious Maxi Skirts!!

1. Tuck-ins

This is by far the easiest way to wear a maxi skirt! Sometimes when I don’t know what to wear but I have to be a bit more put together, I just opt for this style because it’s so handy and easy. Also, there are endless possibilities for the outfit combinations you can create!

This is a recent outfit of mine that I wore to an Iftar! It’s simple yet cute and the lace skirt balances out the casual striped tshirt. Outfit Details: Hijab – Ardene, Tshirt – Target, Skirt – Sirens, Watch – Armani Exchange
This is another simple outfit that I wore to school actually! I tucked this sweater into a bright blue skirt and tied it all together with the matching hijab! Outfit Details: Hijab – Urban Planet, Sweater – American Eagle, Skirt – Dynamite
This is another formal outfit and I personally LOVE this combination!! I tucked a navy blouse into a pleated skirt and the cognac accessories really added a sense of class! Outfit Details: Hijab – Target, Blouse – Nygard, Skirt – Urban Planet, Purse and Shoes – Aldo

2. Crop Tops

Along with the abundant stock of maxi skirts/dresses in stores right now, crop tops are also a huge trend at the moment. And although they fall short in modesty (HAHA PUN INTENDED!!! 😉 ), HijabiHeroes is always here to save the day with different ways to incorporate them into our hijabi style!!

This style is also great if you aren’t super comfortable with the tuck-in style!

Crop tops can easily be worn with high waisted maxi skirts and work for casual and formal events!!

This is an oldie but a goldie! I love this casual and fun take on a crop top-maxi skirt pair! The gray colour of the crop top matches perfectly with the chevron skirt and adds a cute touch to the outfit!

STYLE TIP: If you are on the hunt for more formal crop tops – make sure you pick them up after the holiday season! There are always beautifully designed and sequinned crop tops in stock at this time. This way you’ll also get them on sale 😉

This is a more formal look with a gray sparkly layered crop top!
Outfit Details: Hijab – Target, Crop Top – Sirens, Skirt – Stall from Halal Food Fest, Clutch – Monsoon (UK), Shoes – Michael Kors
I love this cream lace crop top! This top is honestly my go-to when I don’t know/I can’t decide what to wear on my skirt! It makes for a very elegant outfit 🙂

3. Peplum Tops

Peplum Tops! Yes, you got that right!
Peplum tops actually look really flattering on maxi skirts and they can make an outfit look like a dress! The peplum also elongates you and adds a nice dimension to your outfit!

I like this style for more fancy events but depending on the actual top, this style can work for casual outings as well!

Here is an example of a peplum top (well cardigan) for a more casual outfit that I actually wore to Halal Food Fest! This cardigan is a slight peplum and in my opinion, looks amazing with dresses/skirts!!  Outfit Details: Hijab – HijabiMama, Cardigan – Costa Blanca, Dress – Charlotte Russe, Bag – Aldo
This is an example of a fancier outfit with a peplum top! I paired the black sparkly peplum top with this light pink pleated skirt and brought it all together with a black and pink floral hijab!

Blazers, Cardigans, and everything in between!

Okay last but not least, the amazing blazers, cardigans, vests, other shirts, or any other top you can think of that you can wear over something else! When it doubt, you can also always trust on this style to never fail you 🙂

If you read our post about Hijabi Wardrobe Essentials, you probably have already seen my obsession with jean jackets, blazers and cardigans!! And there is no exception when it comes to pairing them with skirts!

This picture is from my Summer Lookbook Collab with Dara Boutique! I love how this outfit turned out – even Denim/Chambray shirts look great on maxis if you don’t have a jean jacket!!
This is a combination outfit! I wore a crop top and a pink denim vest on top of a maxi! I really liked how the outfit turned out though 🙂

This outfit was featured in the “HOW TO STYLE: Statement Pieces” post (go check if out if you haven’t already!) but it also works here! Just because you are wearing a shrug/jacket over a skirt doesn’t mean that it will be a casual look! This gold sequins shrug adds the perfect pop to a neutral outfit and I wore this for a wedding reception 🙂

I hope you enjoyed this post and I hope it was helpful!
If you are on the hunt for maxi skirts, make sure to check out Dara Boutique! Their skirts are a really nice material and come in the most gorgeous colours!

Happy Fasting!

HOW TO STYLE: Statement Pieces

We’ve been getting a lot of questions about how to style certain pieces so we are starting a series about styling different articles of clothing and accessories!

I know I said on instagram (@HijabiHeroes) that I would do a styling for maxi skirts, but I can’t resist starting the series off with this one :$ That one will be up soon inshallah, especially before Mahe Ramadhan so you all can have some outfit ideas 😉

I absolutely love statement pieces! It can be clothes or accessories, but I just love them because they’re different and unique. Now don’t get me wrong here, I’m not trying to attract attention to myself. Even statement pieces can be understated (an oxymoron I know). For example, I just find statement necklaces to be really pretty. It’s not because their big or chunky but just because I find them simply pleasing!

Now that we got that out of the way – I can talk about the pieces!

The easiest way to style statement pieces is to centre the entire outfit around that piece. I Know it seems simple, but you have to make sure that everything else in the outfit is pretty simple, yet classy and nice, to make sure that your outfit doesn’t clash or look gaudy. That doesn’t mean that the rest of the components of your outfit aren’t nice, but they just have to be simple.

I recently saw this big gold statement necklace at Aldo and I absolutely fell in love with it but I had no clue on how to style it.

Currently for me, I am loving the black-cream-gold trend. I think these colours work really nicely and are really classy and show how neutrals can work together and not be boring!
I decided to pair this necklace with a plain cream shirt tucked into a high waisted black maxi skirt. Simple and clean so that the necklace can really pop!
I wore a black hijab with a slight shimmer as I wore this outfit for a wedding event and I just added a gold belt that isn’t too flashy to bring the look together.

IMG_7087 IMG_7076

This next outfit features this Gold Sequins Shrug. I know, again with the gold but I just love it!
Pieces like these normally come out in the winter time as they are considered as Holiday outfits.
Momma bought this for me because just like me, she is in love with such things! As I just went to Orlando again for another wedding, when I found out about the various wedding events, I knew I had to wear this and I knew exactly what I would wear it with!!

The only thing about this particular shrug is that it is short sleeves but I think I still made it work!
I paired it with a plain cream shirt and a cream pleated skirt. Together, it looked like I placed the shrug on a long sleeve maxi dress!
I just added a tan and shimmery hijab with a tan wristlet to complete the look and then because this was a more fancier event, I even added a hand chain that I got from Forever 21!

I hope you all enjoyed this post and found it beneficial!

Honestly, just wear what you like and don’t be afraid to experiment with new pieces. To be honest, I was a little scared wearing that big heavy gold necklace! It might seem lame that I was scared but it’s hard to carry such statement pieces. But, just dress how you like, be simple and classy, and your personality will complete the outfit <3

Have an amazing weekend 🙂
