I’m slowly trying to get back into the groove of regular blogposts! It’s definitely harder than I remember, to be honest. Definitely, appreciate all my fellow sisters hustling and achieving their dreams. You go girls 👏🏽
This week, we are styling some bright colours and prints. My style has totally changed since I’ve started HH. Two years ago, I definitely wore a lot of prints and bolder colours, but more recently, I’m drawn more to the neutral hues, because they are so easy to style and versatile. However, I want to prove that brighter colours aren’t a challenge, but they can literally bring your outfit to life.
I have two outfits to demonstrate this. The first is a neutral outfit with a trendy POP of colour. Brighter colours are definitely “in” right now. The second is a mixed print outfit that even I was nervous about at first, but I was pleasantly surprised at how it turned out!
I hope you’re doing well! It’s been a while since I last wrote a fashion related post just for kicks. Seriously, it’s been ages since I’ve been on here to really share what I’M truly passionate about, other than the Zanzibar post of course! I’ve been feeling a little lost with what I want to really achieve with this space and I’m starting to recover what this blog is all about. With that being said, look forward to some new content coming your way inshallah! And as always, you can catch me on YouTube (I actually have some lookbooks up there!!!) and on Instagram (I post on the daily, you already know) *shameless self promo* hehe.
ALRIGHT, class in session. The NUMBER 1 QUESTION I get asked, and I am not exaggerating in the slightest is: How do I always have new outfits or How do I always create new outfit combinations? People think I have 896,042,135,785 articles of clothing that I sift through to come up with outfits for events and shoots. Now, as much as I wish that was true, or slightly true, it is most definitely not! I don’t go shopping 24/7. I’ve actually barely gone shopping this year, after my primark excursion in May because, well, PRIMARK. It’s actually come to a point where my Mom is *pleading* with me to buy new clothes! I know, who would have thought that day would come.
Hope you’re doing well and enjoying the sunny summer weather ☀️
I always get asked how I come up with so many outfit combinations and everyone thinks I have 8706532 articles of clothing. I am not *always* shopping, as per popular belief hehe. I do have a closetful of clothing, alhamdulilah, and I am always thinking of new ways to wear the clothes I already have. I think that’s the essence of fashion. Especially as I’ve been getting this feedback recently, I thought I’d make this blogpost about how to expand your wardrobe!
When it comes to ethnic wear, it can be difficult to re-wear the same outfit in a short period of time. The eye-catching intricate glitz and glamour that accompanies ethnic wear can even be difficult to style in ways other than its original form. But, if you’re going to spend a good amount of money on such pieces, you want to wear them in more than one way!
I’m back with another blogpost! I know it’s been AGES. To be honest, I’ve been kinda out of the blogpost flex lately, and I didn’t want to give you content I wasn’t proud of or enthusiastic about. Also, the new islamic year began, which starts with the two months of sorrow, Muharram and Safar (read more here), so I was also holding off until the first 12 days of Muharram passed.
School is so hectic right now, I’m really feeling the pressure haha! I just finished a midterm yesterday, and I REALLY have been wanting to do this blogpost for you all, so I had to squeeze some time in. Truth be told, this blogpost was a suggestion by a good friend – Fadak! She asked for this how to style post, and I’m happy to deliver! Thanks girl for your continued support ❤️
I’m really loving this whole 2 blogposts a week! I thought it would be a little much but with some planning and time management, it’s actually really fun! It feels so good to be able to write to you all so often so inshallah this momentum continues!
Today I have a post on how to style dainty jewelry! Personally, with hijab, I feel like it’s hard to wear dainty or delicate jewelry because it really doesn’t show that much. Maybe it’s just me, but I find it a lot easier to just throw on a statement necklace and be done with the accessorizing, only because I know it’ll actually show. So I thought it’d be cool to write about how to style simpler or more subtle pieces.
There are two main Style Tips when working with dainty jewelry:
1) Keep the outfit simple!
I know the jewelry is understated, but a simple outfit actually works better in this situation! Having a rather easy colour palette or even just simple pieces will really help the jewelry shine through and become more of the focus. Too many colours or a big print may easily distract the attention away from the jewelry.
2) Layer up!
With smaller pieces of jewelry, you can totally get away with stacking! Wearing a couple of rings, a small chain necklace, and earrings is not overpowering and the pieces actually compliment each other!
I hope you are all doing well, and if you are amidst exam season, I hope those are going well! My first exam is Friday and I finish exams next week! Sorry for the delay with this blogpost, it’s just been super busy these past couple of days.
If you’ve been here for a while, you’ll know about my How to Style series! You might also know that HTS posts are actually one of my favourite blogposts to write! I find them helpful to myself, so I really enjoy it! As my style is transitioning to more basic pieces, I really wanted to show how I style my wardrobe essentials. So an off-shooting from the How To Style series is the Back to Basics stream! Back to Basics will feature my wardrobe staples, including a simple black maxi dress in this post! I’m so excited for upcoming posts inshallah 🙉
Ahh the Little Black Dress! Known to be a staple in a woman’s wardrobe. In this case, it’s a Little Black (Maxi) Dress! They’re super easy and essential in my opinion, and can be dressed up or down to fit the occasion. Maxi dresses in general are very convenient to just throw on, and black ones especially are pretty awesome. I’m wearing a simple straight cut black maxi from H&M in all of the pictures!
I hope you are all doing well! It’s been a busy week and weekend, and next week will be the same! The assignments are loading up and midterms are approaching. I swear we JUST got back to school 😭 I’m ready for another vacation, to be honest 😅
Today, I have an exciting blogpost, as always of course!
I’ve always seen girls rocking chiffon hijabs and I wish I could do the same! Every time I tried, I found them too slippery and I was so self-conscious about how they looked. I think my constant fussing and ‘fixing’ of my hijab actually messed up the style even more!
When I found out that Voile Chic has extra smooth chiffon hijabs, I mustered up some courage to order some! They have the most stunning colours, so it was so hard to say no. I took a leap of faith and I’m so glad I did! I really loved the two hijabs I ordered! They’re so classy and I was pleasantly surprised with how easy they are to style. And of course, the quality is amazing as well!
Voile Chic is a Canadian hijab company which sells a variety of hijabs and the related essentials! They have a variety of fabrics, but I would definitely say they are known for their Chiffon and Jersey hijabs! Their hijabs are so classy, and the colours are pretty and sophisticated. And the owner is really kind, which makes a huge impact on the customers!!
I trust you had a fabulous and relaxing weekend! I’m sorry I’m getting to the blogpost so late, but to be honest, I don’t even ‘worry’ about my blogposts anymore. I know that every Sunday night, words will just pour out as I wait every week to click on “Add New Post” hehe 🙂
Today’s post is another instalment in my How to Style series and I’ll be talking about Varsity Jackets! Varsity Jackets are super cute for the Fall and they have a unique sporty yet casual vibe. Speaking of Varsity Jackets, I’m totally remembering my high school days! Which was just two years ago, so I’m not sure why I’m acting so old LOL.
Varsity Jackets are great to wear when it’s chilly, but not super cold. Alhamdulilah, the weather in Toronto was actually so nice, until today of course… :’) I felt like we had an actual season of Fall, like two whole months!! (Alhamdulilah, always, of course!)
Normally, I show a couple of ways on how to style a certain piece. This time, I designed some outfits online and then I have some of my own pictures! Also, I totally stole my brother’s varsity jacket for this post LOL, but I like the way his fits on me, even though it’s oversized. And I totally picked it out for him, so it’s basically mine, right?!?!?!
I hope you are all doing well! Eid-e-Ghadeer Mubarak! Today marks the anniversary of the event of Ghadeer. On this day, after the completion of the Holy Prophet’s last Hajj, he declared to the people that his cousin and son-in-law, Imam Ali would be the successor after him. This is a monumental day in Islam and a day worth celebrating!
Unfortunately, I have night class today and instead of celebrating with family and friends at mosque, I’ll be partying it up in my Roots of Medical Terminology 3 hour lecture, ayy D:
Today I have a very special post! It just started getting cold here (and I mean like 8º C, we go 0 to 100 real quick) so this is my first official Fall post! It’s an ideal time for this post so everyone’s good to go with their outfits for the season 😉 In addition, I’m collaborating with one of my favourites for this post – The Hijab Souq! I’m so excited to feature their hijabs in my outfits! All of these outfits actually turned out so well! This may just be one of my favourite posts 😀
The Hijab Souq is a USA based business and sells hijabs and accessories that are great for all aspects of your wardrobe! Literally, they have the biggest selection of solid coloured hijabs I HAVE EVER SEEN. It’s so perfect! They also have a variety of printed hijabs and special occasion ones as well. They even have these really cute calligraphy clutches and statement necklaces! This is right up my alley!
On their website, you can find plenty of style inspiration and outfit ideas on how to style their scarves! You can also see lots of pictures of happy customers styling the scarves in their own unique way 🙂
They even offer Free Shipping to the US AND Canada for orders over $50! Yes, I did just say that it includes Canada! I know, monumental :’)
Check out The Hijab Souq on their website, Instagram, and Facebook! They always have sales going on so you definitely want to be updated with their social media accounts!
For this post, I decided to choose the 4 types of sweaters that I wear most and show how I like to wear them. These are: Thick/Chunky sweaters, Thin sweaters, Maxi Cardigans, Cropped sweaters (jumpers). I also feel these are the most practical for the cold weather and most popular right now.
I hope you enjoy this post!
Sweater 1: Thick Sweaters
Alright, let’s be real. Thick sweaters just make us all sad because it enforces the reality of cold weather LOL. Might as well make them look cuter so we can feel better about ourselves! But honestly, we all have to wear these types of sweaters one day or another. With these sweaters, you can really do anything. I love to play with colours when it comes to these types of sweaters because you already have a unique texture from the fabric itself, so you can either play with patterns or mix up the colours.
For this outfit, I wore a black and white sweater with stripes on the back. Hence, I chose not to incorporate any more prints into the outfit. It is long and flattering, and has two zippers on the sides that can be opened to create some slits. I paired it with the Royal Lace hijab in the Tan colour. This hijab has to be one of the SOFTEST hijabs I have ever seen/own/worn! The lace is on both edges of the hijab, and I even changed my hijab style to show it off! You know a hijab is pretty amazing if it makes me change my hijab style :’)
I decided to wear some standard fall colours with this outfit – olive green, tan, and cognac brown! This outfit turned out really well and it’s perfect for everyday use. I wore this for running errands and I can easily see how this outfit will become a go-to for school.
I LOVE this outfit! It’s so casual yet perfect. Thin sweaters are great for those in-between days where it’s chilly, but not super cold. They’re also great for layering because you can add more pieces and have the option of removing some if it gets warmer. Hence, I decided to style the Hijab Souq scarf around my neck, instead of as my hijab! I know, sneaky! But with thin sweaters, scarves around your neck look super cute and are a great to add some extra warmth without the bulk. I even have a post on HOW TO STYLE: Neck Scarves, so you can have plenty of ideas on how to wear them with your thin sweater :’)
I wore this plum purple sweater and some distressed jeans! I actually DIY-ed this pair, so I plan on doing a post on this soon inshallah! For some reason, when I envisioned this outfit, I just felt like it needed some hole-y jeans. I just thought it made the look. So I made some and I’m so glad I did 🙂 Of course, I wore leggings underneath for modesty purposes hehe. I wore the Candy Fiesta hijab around my neck. I love the fun, unique print – it is versatile for year-round wear. The tassels on the edges made this hijab even more ideal for being around my neck! I just finished the outfit with a solid brown hijab that matched a shade from the hijab. Overall, I’m really pleased with this look!
Is it okay to also ABSOLUTELY ADORE this outfit as well?!
This is by far one of the biggest trends recently in the (hijabi) fashion community. Maxi cardigans are perfect because they’re super long and look great over anything and everything. They’re very handy in that way and hence I wanted to share a different way to style them!
They’re definitely great for wearing something shorter underneath because you know you’re still modest and covered. But, I also really like wearing them with a longer top underneath! The maxi on maxi (more like midi on midi) look is really chic in my opinion! It’s almost a bit redundant and unnecessary – I mean, I’m wearing a super long cardigan for a reason! Take it for what it is, but the two long pieces really compliment each other and have a sophisticated look. This is a new way that I love wearing my maxi cardigans so I had to share it in this post 🙂
I wore this gray speckled maxi cardigan with this Pink long sleeve Midi Dress from Daya Couture! So again, maxi cardigans are awesome for layering and keeping you warm yet stylish. I paired these two with the Tri-Coloured Hue hijab. Honestly, the second I saw this hijab, I envisioned this outfit. It was just meant to be 🙂 I’m really into Ombre hijabs these days and I love how this one has 3 colours – beige, pink, and charcoal gray. The hues on this hijab are on point! The combination is just so classy and matched exactly with this outfit. The texture of the sweater and colours from the hijab mesh well together. These pieces were made for each other!
Cropped sweaters have definitely become a fall/winter wardrobe staple for me! I just got into them last winter and I wish I discovered them earlier! They’re quite easy to style and my favourite way to wear them is to layer them with longer blouses underneath! Sometimes, if you have a sleeveless blouse, it’s hard to wear them with a short cardigan or a long sleeve tshirt underneath. So for added warmth, you can easily throw a cropped sweater on top! I also wear these sweaters with maxi skirts, they’re the perfect length and are a great way to hang on to your skirts for a little longer 😉
For this outfit, I wanted to go for a black and white look and then spice it up with the hijab. Starting from the sweater, I wore a light gray, almost silver-like) sweater, a black and white grid print blouse, white jeans, and black heels. The blouse has two slits on the sides, which adds to the modern feel of the his outfit. Although unintentional, I liked how the white-black-white-black pairing worked out! I wore the Tri-Coloured hue hijab once again, because it’s pretty modern and works well with the pieces in the outfit.
And there you have it! I sincerely hope you enjoyed this post! I know I loved coming up with all of the outfits – because now I have 4 great outfits on my go-to list hehe! If you have any feedback, please let me know!

I can’t believe it’s already August!! There’s only a couple weeks til school starts again! How crazy is that! Being off from school since the end of April has been pretty nice and I’ve totally forgotten what it’s like to actually have class! I’m starting my 2nd year of university and I’m definitely a bit nervous, inshallah everything goes well.
Since there’s not that much time until summer bids us farewell and we once again meet the dreaded Canadian winter, I thought I should maximize this hot weather and write a blogpost about how to wear florals! I think I’ve mentioned this in like every blogpost since Ramadhan lol but florals in the summertime just make me so happy! So why not wear them, and know how to style them, for the rest of summer!
I decided to break this post into three sections of florals – small print, medium-sized florals, and then your big floral patterns. I thought that this would be a good approach to take since floral designs can differ so much and how you’d wear one style wouldn’t necessarily be how you would wear another. Also, for each size of floral, I have made a general ‘rule of thumb’ to help as a guide. This is just something I came up with to help give an idea of why I chose to style the floral the way I did.
For the small and medium sized floral design outfits, I’ll be wearing hijabs from Tatuis! They have some really nice hijabs and they are a great cotton material. Many other bloggers have worn their hijabs such as Hijabs by Hanan, Nourka92, and AModernHijabi!
I hope this post is beneficial to you all! Let’s get started 🙂
Rule: 1 colour from the design, the rest Neutrals
Small Floral designs are probably the easiest and most common floral out there. They aren’t too overpowering and not too bold either. They’re a safe pattern and hence, there’s not much thought that goes into wearing a small floral print.
For such prints, a good outfit idea would include one colour that’s included in the floral-printed article of clothing and then the rest of the outfit can include neutral colours. This is a really easy way to go because it always works out to make a great look. For example, if you have floral printed pants, you can just wear a white or black top and then a coloured hijab (using a colour from the floral print in the pants) and you’re set! A cute outfit is ready with no thought or effort whatsoever!
For my outfit, I wore this navy floral printed hijab from Tatuis with a blouse and palazzo pants. Palazzo pants are great for the summertime as they are really breezy and comfortable but also modest. They prevent you from feeling too hot as the wide leg pant does not stick to you. Tucking a blouse into palazzo pants is also a staple outfit idea – always sure to please!
Since the hijab had coral-pink flowers in it, I wore an orangey-pink blouse and black palazzo pants. This follows the rule of 1 colour from in and the rest neutrals.
This hijab is really nice! It is slightly on the smaller side in terms of the width, but it still draped really easily and I really liked how it looked! Normally, with a new hijab I tend to fuss with it for a bit and have to wrap it a couple times before I achieve the desired look, but with this hijab, I just did my normal style and it looked great right away!
Blouse – Costa Blanca
Palazzo Pants – Costa Blanca
Hijab – Tatuis
Rule: All Neutrals
For medium-sized florals, my suggestion is to pair them with all neutrals. Now I don’t know if this is just me, but to be honest, I hardly ever find a medium floral print. When I thought about it, I realized, I only ever see small or big floral designs.
Medium Florals look great with neutral colours because it allows the floral print and the colours from that piece to stand out and become the focal point of the outfit. Adding in other colours to such a design may overpower the outfit as medium sized prints in general are the odd ones out.
Hence, I paired my yellow floral printed Tatuis hijab with gray, navy and black. Adding in the navy compliments the colours in the hijab and doesn’t make this a ‘boring’ outfit as it’s mostly plain colours. I decided to wear a gray loose tshirt dress and pair with an opened denim shirt. Chambray shirts are a great alternative to jean jackets, especially as they work when you want something a bit longer because jean jackets just don’t make the cut. (Hehe you get it, they don’t make the cut because they’re too short :’) Wow, LOL) I finished the look with my favourite black pants and summer sandals.
The cool thing about this hijab is that there’s already a slot/opening for your head! Say whaaaaaat!
Yes, this hijab is already set with a ‘short’ and ‘long’ side and then a space for your head to slide right in! How neat! I just slipped this hijab over my undercap and did my hijab style like normal! It was honestly so much easier because I didn’t have to worry about adjusting the two sides and making sure one isn’t too short or too long! And, the end of the long side has this really cool ruffle effect which adds a nice touch and some dimension to your hijab look :’)
This is actually a new look for me and a totally last minute random put together, but I really liked how the entire outfit came together!
Denim Shirt – Cotton On
Gray Tshirt Dress – Forever 21
Black pants – H&M
Hijab – Tatuis
Sandals – Aldo
Purse – Kate Spade
Rule: Anything and Everything
Okay, hear me out. I know ‘anything and everything’ is a bit shocking, considering I just mentioned at the beginning of the Medium florals section that you don’t want to make an outfit too overpowering, but if you’re already wearing a big print, might as well embrace it! Because, why not?! 🙂
Honestly though, with a bold pattern, you can really do anything with it. You can wear all colours, as long as the colours are in the floral design, or you could wear all neutrals, or both! You’ve already made a statement by rocking a bigger pattern, so there’s no need to shy away.
For this outfit from my Eid Guide post, I chose to wear some of the colours that were already in the bold floral printed ball gown skirt. The colours aren’t too bright and they add a nice contrast to the look, which ensures the outfit isn’t too overpowering. Also, it’s important to remember that the colours you choose to wear would also depend on the event or occasion the outfit is for. If the outfit is just for a regular casual day, you probably wouldn’t choose such a look.
I thought I would include some more outfit pictures of small, medium, and big florals and how these outfits work with their respective rule of thumb 🙂
I hope this post was helpful to you all!
Thank you so much for the support and special thank you to Tatuis for the beautiful hijabs!
