I hope you are all doing well!
This past weekend has been a busy one! Among the many things going on, it was my good friend Shumaila’s bridal shower! Shumaila, better known as @shumidee from Instagram and Youtube, is getting married in August inshallah and her amazing bridesmaids and family threw her an awesome bridal shower on Sunday! You’ve seen her in my many #HijabiHeroes blogposts, so of course, I had to write a blogpost about her bridal shower! And you bet you’ll get a whole wedding week post when August rolls around 😅
Everyone was requested to wear black semi formal attire and the theme was black with pink and floral accents. Of course, Miss Shumaila wore all white, just like a bride! Her bridesmaids did an amazing job with the decorations, with a black wall and beautiful flowers, and there was also a sequins wall for a photobooth accompanied with some funny props. There was perfect seating and a gorgeous cake and desserts table! From the door to the decor (haha, bars), everything was so well thought out! There was decorations at the front door and pictures of Shumaila and her fiancé all over the walls, and even hanging from the ceiling!
We played a game with Shumaila on how well she knew her fiancé, and for every incorrect answer, she had to chew on a humongous gumball! Knowing the cheater Shumaila is, she would just take out each gumball to add in a new one LOL 😂 But in her defence, they were pretty big, but hey, it’s a perfect cheekbone workout 😅 We also played another game that was similar to ‘pass the parcel’, but instead, we had to pass around a little gift bag whenever we heard the words ‘right’ or ‘left’ in a story read aloud by Insiyah, one of her bridesmaids. It was pretty fun and went really fast, and also unique!
And it can’t be a Shumaila event without food (haha), so we had some yummy dishes and there was a super delicious punch that we all really loved! Her cake was amazing and so were all of the other desserts. Of course we gathered around for her to cut her cake and there were a lot of pictures! At the end, we all got a macaroon as a favour, and it was so delicious!!
For my outfit, I really wanted to wear something quite different than my usual style. Normally, I totally would have gravitated towards wearing a black maxi dress or skirt, but this time, I decided to wear a black blouse with my silver and black sequins pants! Then, to bring it all together, I wore my Dara Boutique abaya on top like a kimono, similar to how I wore it to Halal Food Fest! I really loved how it turned out and I appreciated how it was still dressy, but also super flowy and comfortable.
I hope you liked this little post from Shumaila’s bridal shower! I am honestly SO SO SO happy for her! And I can’t wait to see her as a bride inshallah! She is such a beautiful person, inside and out. Her laughter is definitely contagious and I’m really glad we’ve been able to get closer recently! #HHxSD
Alrighty then, I’m out! Speak to you again very soon!
Lots of love,
