Winter Style Tips!

Hello everyone!

I hope you are all doing well! Hope you enjoyed your long weekend and Family Day (if Canadian) or President’s Day (if American), or regular old Monday (if from anywhere else LOL)!
Sorry my post is late, but had a fun family dinner last night so didn’t get around to posting!
But, HAPPY FAMILY DAY to you all! Thank you all for being my HH family and the best supporters ever 💕💕

Now I know in the Winter, it can be really tough to wear a cute outfit when all you can think about is not freezing in the -20 ºC weather (may fluctuate with windchill 😪). Or you may have a nice outfit, but it’s buried under your huge winter jacket and cannot be appreciated. Then, we end up being lazy with our style and just live in a hoodie and sweatpants (am I right) 🙋

Often in my regular blogposts, I incorporate Style Tips, which are a general rule of thumb that can be applied to everyday dressing. Hence, I thought I’d make a blogpost just for Style Tips I follow in the winter season! This blogpost idea was suggested by my girl Zahra Maryam, so thank you once again!
Like I’ve mentioned before, if you have any blogpost ideas you’d like to see on HH, please shoot me a message or leave me a comment and I will definitely try to make a blogpost about it inshallah!

Alright, let’s begin!

Tip 1 – Integrate your winter necessities as your accessories
Scarves, gloves, beanies, and headbands!
Use these to keep you warm and and they’ll look cute. Blanket scarves can definitely make your plain winter jacket more exciting and hijabis can totally rock beanies and those cute headbands to add something different to your look.
You could even Grab some high knee socks or longer socks and have them peek up through your boots for a cute and quirky touch. Depending on the outfit, adding this is a simple touch but can provide some dimension.

Tip 2 – Coordinate your hijab with your jacket

If you are outside for a large portion of the day, or will be wearing your jacket most of the time, make sure your hijab matches your jacket and not just your outfit. For example, I had to wear Navy for team photos at a meeting, and I wore a Navy hijab and Navy pants, but my jacket was also navy. It looked like I was wearing Navy from head to toe, when in reality, my blouse was beige! Hence, keep this in mind so you can have some contrast in colours and still look stylish even if your coat is on.

Tip 3 – LAYER!

This sounds so obvious, but maybe wearing a thick sweater and a lighter jacket is better than wearing a heavy coat and a thin top under. Layering is an easy way to give depth to an outfit and you can wear more pieces. This way, more of the outfit can be seen without sacrificing comfort and warmth.

Tip 4 – Skirts are still possible!
Skirts are definitely still possible in the Winter time! If there is not too much wind, you’re good to go. All you have to do is wear a good pair of leggings underneath and for your top, you can wear a (cropped) sweater, so you’re still warm and cozy!

Tip 5 – Have fun with it!

Who said you can’t rock a great statement piece in the winter? Pick a show-stopping article and make it the focus of your outfit. Whether it’s a bright coat, some cool boots (which I definitely have to show), or even a fun scarf/gloves. Let’s focus on the bright side and use colours to express ourselves.
For example, when it’s not snowing at least, I can definitely rock these coloured booties! They are handmade and I got them in Isfahan, Iran last winter when I visited. They’re a fun way to spice up an outfit and bring some happiness and joy to my look!
