I hope you are all doing well!
I trust you had a fabulous and relaxing weekend! I’m sorry I’m getting to the blogpost so late, but to be honest, I don’t even ‘worry’ about my blogposts anymore. I know that every Sunday night, words will just pour out as I wait every week to click on “Add New Post” hehe 🙂
Today’s post is another instalment in my How to Style series and I’ll be talking about Varsity Jackets! Varsity Jackets are super cute for the Fall and they have a unique sporty yet casual vibe. Speaking of Varsity Jackets, I’m totally remembering my high school days! Which was just two years ago, so I’m not sure why I’m acting so old LOL.
Varsity Jackets are great to wear when it’s chilly, but not super cold. Alhamdulilah, the weather in Toronto was actually so nice, until today of course… :’) I felt like we had an actual season of Fall, like two whole months!! (Alhamdulilah, always, of course!)
Normally, I show a couple of ways on how to style a certain piece. This time, I designed some outfits online and then I have some of my own pictures! Also, I totally stole my brother’s varsity jacket for this post LOL, but I like the way his fits on me, even though it’s oversized. And I totally picked it out for him, so it’s basically mine, right?!?!?!
With this post, I really wanted to show the versatility of Varsity Jackets. At first glance, they seem pretty challenging to pull off. It doesn’t seem like you can wear them in many ways. I totally thought this myself (that alliteration tho). They definitely work well for casual looks, but they can also look cute with some other pieces!
My top three ways on how to wear a Varsity jacket would be with – 1) Long Tshirts, 2) Plaid, and 3) (Sweater) Dresses.
With this, you create three distinct looks. The first being super casual, the second in between, and the third is a more classy approach.
1) Long Tshirt
I can totally picture it, a red varsity jacket, a long white or gray tshirt, and black jeans. Super easy and comfortable, and great for daily wear. This is a very effortless outfit and works for the days you don’t want to wear just your tshirt and jeans haha!
Channelling the black, white, and red theme from the previous outfit, I paired my (brother’s lol) varsity jacket with my white and black plaid shirt and some light wash denim. This outfit is similar to the previous, but the texture of the shirt makes it more unique. Also, with plaid, there are so many colours and patterns, so there are endless combinations that can be made!
I like how the coziness of the plaid contrasts, yet compliments the more sporty feel of the varsity jacket. The two vibes make the outfit very casual, yet familiar in a way. I really like mixing textures, and these two different fabrics accomplish an iconic and friendly outfit.
I just kept it simple with a black hijab and boots for this look, but like I said before, you can really make a lot of different outfits with plaid!
Thanks to my friend Sakaanna for these pictures :))

3) Sweater Dress
Last but not least, you can totally rock a varsity jacket with a dress! I know it seems unconventional and that it wouldn’t look good together at all, but I think it could work! I think a nice sweater dress, leggings, boots, and a varsity jacket thrown over could make for a unique look! Adding a varsity jacket to an outfit like this would tone it down, but would still keep the dressed up feel. I don’t know, I’m not sure if this is late night thoughts, so let me know your opinion! I can totally see this outfit looking super cute and great for a fall/winter evening.
I hope you enjoyed this post and liked the designed outfits for some of the ideas!
